They all lined up along the stage.

The spot lights shone down on each of them.  

“What a journey…” Niall began saying.

“We’re just 5 boys from small towns, but we did it. You are the reason we got this far.” Harry added in.

“We made our families proud, and we hope you guys are proud of us as well.” Louis said. 

“I can’t imagine my life any different. It was an amazing journey.” Liam whispered.

“But unfortunately,” Niall said, “This is the end.” 

The crowd went silent.

“We’re sorry to announce that…that…” Liam began to choke up.

They all placed a hand on Liam’s back and gathered close.

Liam continued, “…that…Zayn died last night in a car crash.”

All the boys began to cry.

“We can’t imagine ourselves as One Direction with only four of us. We hope you guys understand. This really isn’t easy for us.” Louis explained.

“We experienced some of the greatest moments in history together. None of this would have happened without you guys. We’ve accomplished things we thought were not even possible.” Niall said.

Liam tried to hold back the tears, “We want to thank all of you, for giving us the time of our lives. For supporting us. Buying tickets, albums and dedicating your time to support us. This all happened because of you.”

“Thank you all for everything. This journey was absolutely incredible. You guys are amazing. We love you.” Harry said.

 “Goodbye,” The boys said together, “we were One Direction.”

They all raised their hands and waved to the audience. The lights dimmed out,

And it was over.
